The 10 Years! Event Cache is a type of event cache.

Description[]

"A 10 Years! Event Cache is a special Event Cache type for events held April 30 - May 3, 2010 to celebrate 10 years of geocaching."[1]

They also commemorated the anniversary of selective ability being turned off, which occurred on the night of May 1st, 2000. The first geocache was placed on May 3rd, 2000. The majority of 10 year events occurred during the time frame listed above, however many Mega Events throughout the year received special 10 Year event icons to help celebrate and were attended by Groundspeak Lackeys. Lost & Found became the official moniker for the overall celebration of the 10th anniversary.[2]

Geocacher's who wished to host a 10 Years! event could not select it as a cache type. They had to create an event cache, adding particular items to the cache page to meet special requirements. Once approved by Groundspeak, the cache page was updated to reflect it's official status as a 10 Years! event. After the designated celebration period listed above, no new events were allowed as 10 Years! events.

Groundspeak held its official Lost & Found celebration at their headquarters in Seattle, WA on July 4th, 2010. Information about the event can be found at GC24GYW - Lost & Found Celebration, where attendees could celebrate with the Groundspeak staff.
