A Charter Member is a status applied to Geocachers who have been paying users of Geocaching.com since the site was first started.

Charter Members are the original Premium Members of the site. They have also maintained their status since that time. A Charter Member has all of the privileges of a Premium Member. Groundspeak continues to thank Charter Members for early and loyal support through the Charter Member status.[1]
Charter Members can be identified by the "Charter Member" label on their user profile. They will also have a small icon on their profile:
